ISSUE AUG/ SEPT 2019

SOUTH AUSTRALIAN BUSINESS KOOKABURRA HOMES IS TARGETING THE REGIONAL MARKET FOR PRICE ACCESSIBLE HOUSING WITH AN OFFERING THAT ALSO AIMS TO TRANSFORM PERCEPTIONS OF “TRANSPORTABLE HOMES”.

The Murray Bridge based company’s latest release is the Monash 214, designed as an “innovative, stylish and quality product for customers living in regional areas.

“By designing the Monash 214 we are continuing to change the perception of transportable homes,” a company spokesperson told Built Offsite.

“Kookaburra transportable homes are built at the company’s Murray Bridge plant and taken fully completed to the customer’s block where they are connected to services. A typical home using can be assembled within one day, using a team of three or four people.”

The plant, which employs a 39-strong team, has adopted a predominantly manual process, using prefabricated frames from supplier Keith Timber. “Keith Timber manufactures prefabricated frames including roof trusses, wall frames and floor trusses, which our team can then assemble in the plant. Keith Timber has been our timber supplier for over 20 years and has provided us with innovative solutions to speed up construction, reduce onsite labour costs and reduce potential weather delays.”

Kookaburra Homes also owns a joinery business, operating on site at Murray Bridge. “We manufacture each home, including all custom joinery, kitchens, cabinetry on site – including laundries, bathrooms, studies, entertainment units and wardrobes.”

The company services the whole of South Australia as well as regional areas of Victoria, NSW, Northern Territory and Western Australia.■
