SYSTEM PROMISES 25 METRE BUILD HEIGHT

TIMBER BUILDING SYSTEMS (TBS), A DIVISION OF TIMBER WHOLESALER MEYER TIMBER, HAS DEVELOPED AN INNOVATIVE LIGHT-WEIGHT STRUCTURAL SYSTEM THAT ALIGNS WITH THE 2016 CHANGES TO THE NATIONAL CONSTRUCTION CODE (NCC) TO ALLOW TIMBER STRUCTURES TO BE BUILT UP TO AN EFFECTIVE HEIGHT OF 25 METRES.

The system involves using a closed-panel timber-based prefabricated building method with a patented structural steel post-tensioning connection system.

According to TBS, the system will provide a quick and safe on-site erection system suitable for both multi-level commercial and residential buildings.

The system is said to encourage architectural design flexibility which allows for large span interiors, double height ceilings and full span glazing.

TBS also recently completed the commissioning of its new lean manufacturing facility (comprising a high-precision European CNC machine) in Dandenong, Victoria
It has also commenced production of its next project, a 1000 m2 commercial office building with a 9.0 metre clear span grid.

The Sydney project is scheduled to reach “lock-up” stage in five days, complete with facades, awnings, glazing, insulation, internal wall finishes, structural floors and electrical rough in.
