NZ PANELISATION SPECIALIST PROMOTES BUILD-IN-A-DAY HOME

THE RECENT COMPLETION OF A THREE-BEDROOM HOUSE IN A DAY BY NEW ZEALAND HOUSING DEVELOPMENT PLAYER FLETCHER LIVING IS HELPING TO CHANGE THE HOME BUILDING GAME IN AUCKLAND.

The 170 square metre home at Hobsonville Point was constructed between 7.30am and 5pm, confirmed Fletcher Residential and Land Development chief executive Steve Evans.

The time-frame compares favourably to Auckland’s existing conventional-build standard of six to nine months. Panels for the home were made in a former Laminex factory in Papakura, Evans said. It is understood the panels took a number of weeks to assemble.

Fletcher Living – a home build completed in one day.

Evans believes Fletcher Living’s panelised elements could enable other construction specialists in the sector to regularly put up a home in a single day.

He intends to release Fletcher’s new fast-build solution to the general market and said he believed it would foster innovation and panelisation across the sector.■
