Modular home builder Uniplan Group invests in Vertex BD prefabrication software to align with company’s growth.
Collaborative building software platform Vertex BD prefabrication is being successfully deployed in modular construction, particularly in light of the benefits of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC).
Based in Armidale, NSW, Uniplan Group are modular home and cabin builders that service residential and commercial markets. Following an assessment of available prefabrication software suitable for light gauge steel (LGS) manufacturing, the decision was made to commit to Vertex BD as it fulfilled the company’s immediate and future growth aspirations.
Jerry Scott, Group Operations Manager told Built Offsite the decision was confirmed by the software’s comprehensive ability to cover the entire end–to-end MMC process; from design through to manufacturing on their LGS roll forming machines.

“We did a lot of research into different options and Vertex BD was the clear choice. Its open-database fields made it easy for us to customise it for specific Howick machine requirements, but retain the flexibility to adjust it for opportunities as they arise. It’s very customisable,” said Jerry.
At present, Uniplan Group use Vertex BD for the production of LGS frames, but envisage more expansive functions for the software. “We’d like to use the software for architectural drawings and ‘push’ it straight through to the roll form machine without having to do any redrawing. We can also integrate any ‘punching’ holes for services such as light switches; there’s a lot of time saving in that.”

Vertex BD software’s wide array of tools, enables the design and detailing options to be “virtually limitless,” and according to Jerry, they’re keen to harness the power of it.
“It’s a good fit, and it’s positioned to be an indispensable asset for our company,” Jerry remarked.
Vertex BD prefabrication software offers a one-stop solution for designing and detailing steel or timber framed structures and is applicable to a broad spectrum of building and component typologies, from single-storey to multi-storey buildings through to prefabricated panels or modules. Vertex solutions are an end-to-end system encompassing sales through to production.
