European timber construction study tour

WoodSolutions have scheduled a Timber Construction Study Tour to Sweden and Norway, targeting architects, engineers, developers, and building professionals. (main pic: Wood Hotel Resort and Spa, Brumunddal, Norway.)

WoodSolutions Tour Start/End Date: 11 – 17 June 2023

The study tour is scheduled to take place prior to the World Conference of Timber Engineering in Oslo from 19 to 22 June 2023. 

According to WoodSolutions: “Get ready for six days and six nights of outstanding inspiration, information and fun as you travel from Falkenberg, Sweden to Oslo, Norway. Your tour leaders are Andrew Dunn, timber engineer and CEO of the Timber Development Association and Eileen Newbury, Head of the WoodSolutions Program.

WoodSolutions 2023 Study Tour details

  • Location: Travel 6 days from Falkenberg, Sweden, to Oslo, Norway, by luxury coach.
  • Tour Dates: Sunday 11 June to Saturday 17 June 2023.
  • Group: Limited to 25 guests only (spaces will be allocated in order of receipt of full payment).
  • Tour Cost: AUD 6,950 per person single room basis (twin share price on application) includes applicable GST. Please note: No air travel is included. Participants must make their own way to Falkenberg, Sweden and return from Oslo, Norway.

Preliminary Itinerary (subject to change)

Sunday 11 June – Arrive and welcome drinks.
Accommodation: Falkenberg, Sweden.

Monday 12 June – Visit Randek’s headquarters & factory where they are producing automation for offsite timber construction, Sodra’s mass timber manufacturing plant, Derome’s volumetric modular construction factory and recently completed buildings.

Tuesday 13 June – Visit timber buildings under construction, tour Södra Climate Arena and Videum Science Park and Limnologen Växjö, and the original modern timber frame eight-storey apartment buildings.

Wednesday 14 June – Visit BoKlok’s volumetric modular factory where they have the latest ‘ZeroLabor’ robotic wall panel manufacturing plant and nearby apartment building (BoKlok is a joint venture between IKEA and Skanska).

Thursday 15 June – Tour the manufacturing plant where the Randek Robotics ‘ZeroLabor’ systems developed & manufactured.  As well as timber buildings completed or under construction.

Friday 16 June – Travel to Lillehammer and see large-scale wood buildings used for the winter Olympics. Visit Moelven, a mass timber producer. Stay at Wood Hotel Resort and Spa, an eighteen-storey mass timber building.

Saturday 17 June – Tour ends (travel home or relax before the World Conference of Timber Engineering commences).

This tour is eligible for informal Continuing Professional Development points. A certificate of attendance will be issued at the conclusion of the tour.
