Homes Victoria seeks modular builders for regional housing project

EOI published for the supply of 250 regional modular homes by Homes Victoria.

Homes Victoria has announced an Expression of Interest (EOI) for the supply of modular homes in Regional Victoria. This initiative is part of the Modern Methods of Construction (Modular) Regional Victoria project, aimed at supporting the provision of social housing in the region.

The EOI seeks to identify and engage with residential modular builders who can deliver modular homes in several regional areas, including Barwon, Central Highlands, Goulburn, Inner Gippsland, Loddon, Mallee, Outer Gippsland, Ovens Murray, and Wimmera South West. These modular homes will range from one to three bedrooms, with multiple homes often planned for each site.

The project aims to deliver 250 modular homes by no later than 2026/27, with a phased delivery program expected. As outlined in the EOI documentation, Homes Victoria emphasised the need for high-quality and sustainable construction meeting specific design criteria.

The procurement process consists of two stages. The first stage, the open EOI process, aims to identify interested modular builders and assess their capability to deliver housing within the project’s timeframes and cost parameters. The second stage will involve an invitation to tender for selected modular housing providers.

Homes Victoria’s objectives for this procurement include identifying the volume of modular buildings capable builders can deliver, determining suitable locations for housing development, and assessing various types of modular houses to meet diverse housing needs.

EOI closing date: 2pm, 23/04/2024 (Australian Eastern Standard Time)
