In a choreographed dance of cranes, a steel-prefabricated 10 story modular apartment building is ready to occupy in just 28 hours from the first prefabricated module delivered to site.
Chinese offsite modular manufacturer, Broad Group, has asserted its proficiency and accomplished what would normally takes months, overnight, in its home town of Changsha.
They built it using their prefabricated modular apartment building system called “Living Building”.
The company, who also manufactures air-conditioning and heating systems, loaded their fully prefabricated modules on to trucks, and completed the job in 28 hours and 45 minutes.
Three cranes were used and a small army of construction workers were deployed for the feat.
The prefabricated modular apartment building system was designed to be easily transported and installed. All components can fit into a standard shipping container, and connected onsite.
The modular apartment building system uses Broad’s B-Core steel slabs as structural elements, as these are claimed to 10-times lighter and 100-times stronger than alternatives.
They are also engineered to withstand earthquakes and typhoons. The company further claims that building offsite with their modular processes has a lower carbon footprint than a conventional build.

Not content with a 10 story building, the company also suggests that the strength and lightness of their prefabricated modular building system can be engineered for buildings of up to 200 storeys – really-tall towers.
