Fleetwood builds gold standard modular housing for seniors.

Social housing in Western Australia’s South West region has received some much-needed support with the delivery and installation of three new modular homes in Manjimup. These homes, designed with seniors in mind, are part of the Cook Labor Government’s $3.6 billion investment in housing and homelessness initiatives. Built to ‘Gold Standard’ specifications by Fleetwood Building Solutions, the homes comprise two bedrooms and one bathroom. They are set to be tenant-ready in early 2025, providing affordable, and secure housing for seniors on the housing waitlist.

Hon. John Carey, Minister for Housing, WA Government.

Housing Minister John Carey highlighted the Government’s commitment to expanding social housing. “Our Government continues to do everything we can to bolster the supply of social housing across Western Australia, including through our record $3.6 billion investment in housing and homelessness measures,” he said.

Mr Carey emphasised the significance of modular construction in delivering quality housing efficiently. “It’s brilliant to see another three modular buildings progressing in Manjimup and, more importantly, these new homes will provide safe, affordable, and secure housing to the most vulnerable members of the Manjimup community.”

Warren-Blackwood MLA Jane Kelsbie noted the critical importance of increasing affordable housing in regional areas. “More affordable, safe, and secure housing is integral to regional town centres. I am proud to have advocated for these new social homes that will provide much-needed housing to seniors in the Manjimup community,” she said.

Ms Kelsbie added, “I’m proud to be part of the Cook Labor Government, as we continue to respond to the housing needs across Warren-Blackwood through our $3.6 billion investment in housing and homelessness programs.”

This development forms part of a broader initiative that has seen more than 2,600 social homes added across Western Australia, with over 1,000 more currently under construction or contract.
