New modular hospital ward boosts capacity for WA Government.
Multiplex has delivered a new 30-bed modular hospital ward for WA’s Rockingham’s General Hospital, which will accommodate low to medium acuity medical patients requiring a short-term stay at the hospital.

The new ward, named ‘Moordibirdup’ (travelling and welcome home) by local Aboriginal elders, will start receiving patients from August 15.
The ward will serve low to medium acuity medical patients requiring a short-term stay at the hospital.
The new ward will free up more beds to cater to emergency or elective surgery cases.
Further, the additional facility has created as many as 83 full-time jobs including doctors, nurses and allied health professionals.
At present, the Rockingham General Hospital has 10 single bed rooms, 10 double-bed rooms, staff offices and reception facilities.
The new ward is part of the government’s expansion plan to deliver a total of 120 inpatient modular beds across Rockingham, Osborne Park, Bentley and Bunbury hospitals.
WA Government Premier Mark McGowan said: “I am pleased that patients across Rockingham and the south metropolitan corridor will now have access to this new facility.
“They have been built in a relatively short timeframe due to the method of construction and a fast-tracked approvals process that would normally take years to complete.
“These beds form part of my government’s commitment to bring 530 new hospital beds online – the equivalent of a new tertiary hospital that would normally take around one decade to build.”
WA Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson said: “This new modular hospital ward is the second facility of its type to open this year, with the Osborne Park modular ward opening in July.
“Already 420 beds of the extra 530 beds are online, which is a boost to the capacity in our health system.”
