Vietnam facilities key to TLC Modular’s Elevation modular housing development.
TLC Modular is behind the construction of the Southern Hemisphere’s largest modular residential development, Elevation, currently underway in Northcote, New Zealand. The six-level project comprises 183 apartments designed for a range of residents, including young couples, families, and downsizers. The apartments are being manufactured in Vietnam and shipped to New Zealand for on-site assembly.
TLC Modular was founded in 1995 and has completed modular projects in New Zealand, Australia, and Singapore. The company operates two factories in Vung Tau City, Vietnam, which together provide over 41,000 square metres of production space.
Richard Le, a senior project manager at TLC Modular, said, “Our manufacturing in Vietnam enables us to produce and ship housing components at scale, reducing both costs and on-site build times for projects like Elevation.”
The Northcote development aims to address increasing demand for affordable housing in New Zealand. According to TLC Modular, their use of modular construction offers several benefits over traditional methods, including quicker completion times, reduced on-site disruption, and the use of sustainable materials. TLC Modular’s Vietnam factories rely on streamlined processes to create prefabricated units, which are then transported to project locations for assembly.
The apartments in the Elevation development are designed to meet the diverse needs of residents. The architects have focused on optimising space, and units range from one-bedroom flats to larger family apartments, with layouts aimed at improving functionality.
TLC Modular has the backing of Goldman Sachs, which holds a majority share in its parent company. This partnership has provided the financial stability needed to expand operations and deliver modular projects across multiple countries.
