UK START-UP FILLS AFFORDABLE URBAN HOUSING GAP

ISSUE FEB/ MAR 2019

UK PREFAB SUPPLIER VIVAHOUSE IS GEARING UP TO MEET DEMAND FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING THROUGH FLAT PACK SOLUTIONS THAT CAN TRANSFORM EXISTING BUILDINGS.

The London-based start-up’s vision is to re-purpose old commercial buildings into co-living spaces using bespoke flat-pack panels.

Vivahouse units can be assembled in an existing building in a matter of hours, according to the company’s co-founder and chief executive Rajdeep Gahir.

Utilising empty existing urban real estate, Vivahouse wants to offer short- and medium-term stays in its homes to business travellers and people who have just moved to cities. Prices start at £500 a week for short stays and £800 a month for long stays.■
