US based Vantem modular homes grows capacity for multifamily modular units

Vantem’s growth strategy gains momentum with new acquisition.

U.S. modular home builder Vantem Homes has announced the acquisition of Arris Manufacturing, an established offsite multifamily manufacturing facility based in Clio, South Carolina. The acquisition is part of Vantem’s broader vision to further its modular housing aspirations and capabilities while furthering its energy-efficient modular housing solutions.

The purchase, which will see the facility rebranded as Vantem Clio, enables the company to expand its production of both single-family and multifamily modular homes. With a focus on meeting the U.S. Department of Energy’s Zero Energy Ready Home standards, the Clio facility is expected to significantly contribute to the company’s aim of establishing 20 modular plants across the United States.

Chris Anderson, CEO of Vantem, stated: “Today, we are taking a significant step forward in our mission of providing our developer partners with end-to-end solutions to increase profitability and achieve more. Arris’ facilities and strong operating team will allow us to grow faster and deliver a complete suite of energy-efficient homes.”

The facility adds new capabilities, including a dedicated transportation and logistics arm and in-house architecture and engineering services. These additions complement Vantem’s existing operations, such as its single-family division Affinity in Lakeland, Georgia, which focuses on turn-key energy-efficient housing developments.

Andrew Miller, former Chief Operating Officer of Arris Manufacturing and now Executive Vice President of Manufacturing at Vantem, commented: “As the premier multi family modular plant on the East Coast, Arris Manufacturing has delivered over 3 million square feet of projects. I look forward to bringing that expertise to Vantem, combining it with their focus on energy efficiency to help developers reduce costs sustainably.”

The Clio facility is set to produce 700 to 800 multifamily units in 2025 and has the capacity to deliver up to 2,000 apartments annually by 2026.

Modular Homes with Ceramic Panel Technology

Integral to Vantem’s innovation is its use of proprietary ceramic panels in modular construction. These panels, which replace traditional building materials such as drywall and cladding, serve as structural components for floors, walls, and roofs. The material is not only weather-resistant and fire-retardant but also significantly less carbon-intensive than cement.

According to Anderson, Vantem’s ceramic panels streamline construction, reducing both complexity and time. A single factory can produce up to 1 million square feet of living space annually, with homes being 80% complete upon leaving the factory. The on-site work is minimal, further cutting construction time and costs.

The energy efficiency of Vantem homes is a standout feature, offering a 70% improvement over traditional homes. Over 50 years, a typical Vantem home could emit 2,000 tons less CO2 than a conventionally built counterpart.
