Chinese company to open modular housing mega factory in Mexico

New modular housing factory promises thousands of jobs.

A wholly-owned subsidiary of Chinese company Weisu, called Vessel, and with manufacturing plants already established in China, Hawaii and Japan, the new Vessel México expects to begin manufacturing  at the end of 2024.

Vessel are targeting the hotel, eco-lodge and residential housing. From its website: “From peaks to jungles, tidal flats to desert lands. Scenic spots have become a new tourist interest. The significance of establishing Vessel is to break through the restrictions of various complex terrains, develop ecologically, and use intelligent ecological cabins. Vessel provides tourists the appeal of ‘living in the scenery.’”

With an expectation of 2,000 to 3,000 new jobs, the plant will be situated in Nuevo León (a northeast region of Mexico) to construct the modular houses.

According to Simon Levy, vice president of operations for Vessel México, they’ll invest US $300 million in the project. The company presently manufactures three modular housing units, and the units are designed to be off-grid.

Watch their story here:

“Vessel develops an innovative self-contained cabin that breaks through the terrain restrictions and has complete functions and provides comprehensive operation services for the ecological development and accommodation market of the cultural tourism industry,” according to company sources.

Installation can be completed in two hours as there’s “no need for on-site construction and decoration.”

Vessel is aiming to start operations in Mexico at the end of 2023, with its first houses ready for sale in 2024. Vessel has further indicated their intention to launch in Colombia, Ecuador, Argentina, Peru and Brazil.
