Peter Blythe’s Dynamic Steel Frame one of three finalists in the 2023 Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame Awards with his light-gauge steel manufacturing business.
An encounter can change lives and industries, and Peter Blythe of Dynamic Steel Frame has achieved exactly that. With a background in mechanical engineering and equipped with a curious mind, on Blythe’s first sighting of an LGS (light-gauge steel) CNC framing machine, he immediately saw the potential to reshape the construction landscape.
It was, as Peter says, “love at first sight”.
Based in Melbourne, Blythe started Dynamic Steel Frame (DSF) in 2012, and like many entrepreneurs he made the sales, operated the machines and drove the delivery truck. From flat packs for kit homes that were delivered all the way up the eastern seaboard, he now employs over 40 staff and consistently delivers over 45,000 linear metres per week of prefabricated LGS frames to building sites.
Blythe’s first building was for a client in Searches Outlet, Victoria, and the owner/builder’s house was subsequently featured on Australia’s Best Houses some years later.
Their first commercial project was for Verve Constructions with whom they enjoy an ongoing relationship.
Blythe’s commitment to excellence and all-things light-gauge steel, were further recognised at a gala dinner at Palladium at Crown on Thursday 10 August, with Dynamic Steel Frame being nominated as one of three finalists in the 2023 Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame Awards.
“As a business owner, I’m incredibly proud of our team, who perform at the top of their game day in, day out. Watching their development is a constant source of pride and motivation for me, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see how far we have come in just 11 years,” said Blythe.
Dynamic Steel Frame was one of three finalists in the Medium Manufacturer of the Year category along with Nissan Castings and Farm Foods Australia. Farm Foods Australia won the Medium Manufacturer of the Year category.
