LG Electronics has officially launched its Smart Cottage, a modular home combining artificial intelligence (AI) technology with advanced HVAC systems. Starting today, the Smart Cottage is available for purchase through LG’s dedicated website, with options for both individual consumers (B2C) and corporate clients (B2B) seeking a secondary residence in suburban or rural settings.

First showcased at IFA 2023 in Berlin, the LG Smart Cottage modular home has drawn attention at various domestic and international events for its blend of compact, high-tech living and sustainable design. Inside, each unit features LG’s premium home appliances, such as the Objet Collection WashTower Compact, dishwasher, induction cooktop, light wave oven, and water purifier, creating a complete, luxury experience within a small footprint. Integrated Internet of Things (IoT) devices, including smart door locks, CCTV cameras, and electric blinds, allow residents to manage their entire environment via the LG ThinQ app.

For those opting for additional features, LG’s AI hub, ThinQ On, can upgrade the Smart Cottage to an AI-powered home. This system provides voice-activated controls, appliance management, and personal care suggestions, further enhancing convenience and efficiency within the space.

The LG Smart Cottage modular home is offered in two configurations. The Mono, a single-storey layout, includes a living room, bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom in a seamless, open-plan design. The Duo, a two-storey model, allocates the first floor to the living room, kitchen, and bathroom, with the bedroom occupying the second floor. Both models prioritise energy efficiency through LG’s heat pump HVAC system and high-efficiency appliances, and an optional rooftop solar panel package provides the capacity for partial energy self-sufficiency.

Potential buyers can explore customisation options on the LG Smart Cottage website, selecting installation sites, product type, exterior and interior colours, and finishing materials. Estimated costs are also provided, with the Mono model starting from approximately AUD $216,000.

Prefabricated construction is a cornerstone of the Smart Cottage’s appeal. With more than 70% of materials, including module structures, windows, wiring, bathrooms, and kitchen fixtures, manufactured offsite, this prefabrication approach allows LG to reduce the overall construction time by up to 50%.

In partnership with SpaceWave, a modular housing company, LG aims to establish the Smart Cottage as a flexible and efficient solution within the growing modular housing sector. Further collaborations with other industry partners are planned, positioning LG Electronics as a key player in the future of modular, tech-enabled residential spaces.
