Australia’s largest wholesale independent timber retailer positioned for expansion with Vertex BD prefabrication software
With the increasing market acceptance and demand for engineered timber products, ITI, has invested in building information model (BIM) specialist Vertex CAD/PDM Systems (prefabrication software) to cater for their client base’s present and future needs.
Commenting on the decision to invest in Vertex BD prefabrication software, Hayden Slatter, Engineered Wood Products Technical Category Manager from ITI said, “The software is a highly adaptable blank canvas that gives our business the ability to configure Vertex software to our desired output. We’ll use the software as a tool where we can detail and design to clients requirements accessing the most effective timber products available. We then have the ability to supply that file and timber to our customers; the frame and truss industry. In effect, we design and they manufacture”.
ITI has further linked the prefabrication software to their inventory management system, which has enabled a seamless integration to output a bill of materials that’s sent directly to the warehouse for delivery to the client. ITI aims to expand their design service offering to be able to provide manufacturing files to their fabrication customers later in 2022.
“Vertex BD is also a fantastic platform for the future direction of ITI, where we will assist our customers to expand from a traditional frame and truss manufacturing towards a more prefabricated panelised or even CLT (cross laminated-timber) offering. We want to focus on dealing with leading global timber manufactures, ensuring its Australian compliance, and delivering it to fabricators where they can do some awesome and wonderful things. Vertex BD prefabrication software offers a one-stop solution for designing and detailing steel or timber framed structures and is applicable to a broad spectrum of building and component typologies, from single-storey to multi-storey buildings through to prefabricated panels or modules.
