Queensland Government collaborates with VOLO Modular for modular housing solution

VOLO Modular delivers 27 modular homes as part of the Queensland Government’s $5 billion strategy to social and affordable housing.

The Palaszczuk Government in Queensland, addressing the ongoing housing challenges, has committed to developing modern methods of construction (MMC) as part of a broader strategy to meet the rising demand for social and affordable housing. The modular home-building venture is part of the government’s $5 billion strategy to supply 13,500 units of social and affordable housing over the next few years. Modular homes, built in factories, are poised to be a primary solution in this plan.

And, Gold Coast-based VOLO Modular has just delivered 27 modular homes from their facility in Yatala, and is scheduled to manufacture a total of 100 by the end of this year.

The 27 modular homes are set to be dispatched to several locations, including Gympie, Eidsvold, and Winton. The use of these homes is twofold: some will serve the immediate need for social housing, while others will accommodate government workers.

The 27 modular homes comprise one to three-bedroom modular houses.

Rick Bell, VOLO Modular, said, “We want to see families in home, that’s our vision, to put people in homes, and our facility can produce up to 500 homes annually.”

It takes VOLO Modular roughly four to six weeks to complete each volumetric modular home.
