10,000+ attendees, 150 exhibitors and Timbertruss’s prefabricated wall panels on display at Bowens Expo 2024.
Built Offsite had the pleasure of attending Bowens annual Building + Innovation Expo held on 11 September at the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton, Melbourne. (main pic: The doors opened at Bowens Building + Innovation Expo 2024.)
The event attracted over 10,000 attendees including industry professionals, builders, and tradespeople, with more than 150 exhibitors showcasing the latest advancements in building materials.
During our visit, Built Offsite had the opportunity to catch up with Timbertruss, a prominent player in Australia’s prefabrication sector. Mark McDonald, CEO of Timbertruss, and Steve Harvey, Head of Next Gen at the company, walked us through some of their prefabricated wall panels.
Timbertruss, situated in Corio near Geelong, opened their state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in 2021. This facility produces an array of prefabricated building elements, including roof trusses, wall frames, posi-joists, floor cassettes, and pre-clad wall frames. Their approach focuses on reducing time onsite while enhancing build quality and safety.
Timbertruss’ prefabricated elements, including their cassette floor panels and Next Generation Walls, are designed to improve site productivity and reduce labour requirements. The cassette floor panels are engineered with open-web posi joists and lined with timber or fibre cement sheet, while the Next Generation Walls come with pre-installed windows and cladding, aiming to minimise onsite wastage.
