The emphasis of the new program is focussed on educational, training, and employment modular home building opportunities for the youth of Tasmania.

“Our housing construction industry has never been more in demand. The Podmatrix Pathway Programme presents a customised and supported route for more young Tasmanians keen on pursuing careers in building and construction, furnishing them with practical work experience and accredited training outcomes needed,” Minister Street remarked.

“Those who successfully conclude the six-week programme will attain three nationally recognised units, a substantial leap towards a career in the building and construction sector.

“Within the programme, they will collaborate with the proficient Podmatrix team to accomplish a construction project in the form of a modular cubby house, which will subsequently be donated to a charity for the benefit of children.”

Minister Street acknowledged Podmatrix as one of the trio of suppliers for Homes Tasmania’s ModHomes programme and the pioneer in introducing this training opportunity.

“The ModHomes supplied by Podmatrix represent an innovative and responsive product solution to augment housing supply, and these novel training opportunities through the ModHomes programme are immensely valuable.

“The versatility of Homes Tasmania enables us to adapt to the evolving needs and demands of the housing landscape in Tasmania, a pivotal aspect highlighted in our recently unveiled Tasmanian Housing Strategy.”

The Podmatrix Pathway Programme forms part of the Tasmanian Government’s plans to increase the pool of skilled labour, generating employment, and delivering an additional 10,000 social and affordable homes by 2032.

The application process for the programme is currently underway, set to commence in February.
