UK MANUFACTURER HEMSEC, WHICH SPECIALISES IN STRUCTURAL INSULATED PANELS (SIPS) AND COMPARABLE PRODUCTS USED IN MODULAR CONSTRUCTION, IS ON AN EXPANSION DRIVE.
Hemsec Commercial Manager Chris Griffin reportedly commented that in the UK market SIPs are increasingly gaining recognition, in particular as load bearing structures.
Hemsec SIPs’ wider benefits for contractors included better quality buildings, faster build times and exceptional eco-benefits. SIPs also offered accuracy and quality of build; while frames made of materials such as timber and steel tend to move once a building is complete, SIPs retain their stability. Their insulation qualities also mean heat is retained to a far higher degree than with traditional materials.
“While it’s easy to integrate our SIPs with a wide range of construction materials (and we are very much in favour of collaborating with other materials manufacturers), it’s important that the UK SIPs sector educates the construction industry in just how much builders can achieve with SIPs alone.”
Hemsec’s expansion comes as the UK construction market moves to find new, cost-effective and innovative ways of supplying the multi-faceted demands of commercial, industrial and residential developers. The company is increasingly receiving enquiries for panels that builders can customise into kits of their own design, giving them a unique point of difference.
Hemsec is also currently actively engaged in fostering collaboration and partnership across the UK construction sector.■
