KitConnect: taking it to the cloud, MMC and a standardised kit-of-parts

Industrialised construction innovator, Project Frog, launches their next big thing: BIM + MMC + standardised kit-of-parts = KitConnect.

In 2017 Built Offsite featured a design and delivery platform called Project Frog (see link below) where architects, builders and developers can browse through pre-configured building typologies, or set site-specific parameters for design.

It’s an intuitive interface allows users to plan their program, size rooms, and even place the exact location of doors and windows, all while receiving real-time structural validation for each unique site requirement.

Since then, they’ve clearly had very busy hands, and have now launched a new platform called KitConnect.

It’s a SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) Design Management Solution (DMS) for the AECO (Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Operations) industry that enables building productisation workflows in BIM (Building Information Modelling).

It’s next level modern methods of construction.

KitConnect is built on a relational-component database (cloud-based BIM-compliant standardised 2D and 3D building elements), and is modelled after Product Data Management (PDM) solutions in the manufacturing industry but redesigned for the specific demands of AEC workflows.

In effect, it means that all the relevant building professionals can work from a cloud-based BIM file that has at its disposal lots of compliant building parts that you know will fit and comply with their relevant standard.

So, as changes occur throughout the lifecycle of a project, designers, manufacturers, and builders can push information back to KitConnect, ensuring everyone is working with relevant and current data.

Watch their explanation.

According to company sources, “KitConnect eliminates issues associated with distributed content management tools and enables a seamless collaborative approach through a cloud-based library to share content across multiple projects, design teams, and external project stakeholders. KitConnect offers a framework for repeatability, consistency, and scalability of building designs.

“KitConnect reduces repetitive modeling, saves time, and eliminates errors that inevitably occur when recreating content. KitConnect is ideal for project types that employ productized or repeatable approaches to building design, such as Data Centers, Multi-family Housing, Healthcare, Retail, Hospitality, Industrial/Plant Design, Office Interiors, and Single-Family Development.”
