NEW ROLE TO FOCUS ON RESEARCH PARTNERSHIPS

DR. DAVID HEATH HAS TAKEN UP A NEW ROLE AS RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT OFFICER, WITHIN THE RESEARCH SERVICES UNIT IN THE MELBOURNE SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING RESEARCH AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE.

His responsibilities in the role, which commenced 25 June, will include research development of grants involving industry, facilitating and supporting strategic research partnerships and networks between the university, industry, government and funding agencies to optimise grant opportunities.

His previous role was as National Technical Manager at the ARC Centre for Advanced Manufacturing of Prefabricated Housing.

“I brought my strong technical background in structural engineering to the role as well as a wealth of experience working with national and multi-national companies working to lift quality and safety standards in the Australian fastening industry. I worked with partner organisations to understand how the research expertise at a university coupled with industrial training opportunities could help shape modern prefabricated buildings, from a technology and skills perspective. This experience will greatly benefit my new role, where I am working to secure new research partnerships with industry and government on research themes across the broad discipline of engineering.” ■
