The tiny home measures just 12.5 square metres and was created by The Sociable Weaver, and it maximises its available space with dual function built-in furniture and rollout doors that connect to the outdoor decking. It features a loft double bed/lounge area, a fully plumbed bathroom, kitchen European style laundry and can sleep up to four people.
Founder of The New Joneses, Tamara DiMattina is passionate about altering peoples perception about downsizing and how that directly translates to environmental and financial benefits.
She says the tiny house movement is opening up a new discussion as to how Australia can combat long-standing issues surrounding housing affordability.
“For such a long time, the majority of the housing affordability story was bad news if you were trying to get into the market, but now, there are these people thinking differently, and it’s opening up other avenues,” DiMattina says.
“You can live in a great space and it doesn’t mean that you didn’t ‘make it’ because you don’t have a big house with a picket fence – it’s a lifestyle choice that’s really beautiful.”
